Kia Carens X-Line Sporty MPV: A Closer Look On Video


Kia offers their MPV, Carens in a total of 10 variants priced from Rs. 10.52 lakhs to Rs. 19.67 lakhs ex-showroom. This broad pricing range allows the Carens to target both budget and premium segment buyers. Today, with the help of a YouTube video uploaded by Namaste Cars, we will learn what the top end X-Line variant of the Kia Carens has on offer.
Before diving into the details of the car, let’s talk about its engine and transmission specifications.

Kia Carens is offered three engine options, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol produces 115 HP and 144 Nm of torque while the turbocharged petrol engine is much powerful delivering an output of 160 HP and 253 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel engine delivers 116 HP and 253 Nm.

The top end X-Line variant which is shown in the video is available with either the turbocharged petrol or the diesel engine. However, this variant is only available with automatic transmission. Now let’s start with the video.

The host starts with his usual style of showing the key and then the car. Kia has recently updated their key, which now has side-mounted buttons. The front of the car features LED projector headlamps along with ice cube fog lights. The DRLs are placed separately and also function as turn indicators. Being the top variant, it comes loaded with features such as front parking sensors, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, single pane sunroof, roof rails and shark fin antenna.

Coming to the side, Carens is equipped with stunning 16-inch alloy wheels. The MPV features electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs. A notable addition to the ORVMs is the camera module for 360-degree cameras.

The MPV comes with all LED taillights but the taillights are not connected. The Carens is equipped with all the necessary features such as camera, sensors, wiper with washer and defogger.

The interiors of the Carens are nothing less than luxury with features such as dual 10.25 inch displays, air purifier, keyless entry with push button start, steering mounted controls, cruise control, 10.1-inch rear entertainment screens, rear tray tables, electric folding second row, multiple charging ports and much more.

The Kia Carens has received a 3-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. While the safety rating is not the best, Kia has not cut down in terms of features. The MPV comes equipped with 6 Airbags, ESC, VSM, BAS, HAC, DBC (Downhill Brake Control), All Wheel Disc Brakes, Highline TPMS, Rear Parking Sensors, ABS with EBD and other safety features to keep the occupants safe.

The X-Line variant is priced at Rs. 19.67 lakhs for the diesel automatic and Rs. 19.22 lakhs for the petrol automatic. This variant can be opted with either a 6-seater configuration with captain seats or a 7-seater configuration with bench seats. Kia Carens competes with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo in the Indian MPV segment.
