However, videos like this one that have been shared recently remind us of this feature’s actual use. In this short clip, the automatic emergency braking system helped an owner of this SUV avoid an accident on a highway. The video clearly shows how this feature is something to cherish.

Mahindra XUV700 ADAS avoids critical accident
This video of a Mahindra XUV700’s ADAS saving a collision has come courtesy of Reddit. In this short video clip recorded from a dashcam inside the Mahindra XUV700 shows ADAS’ capabilities. What happens in the video is that the SUV is seen driving at a normal speed on a highway.
We can note that there was a small goods truck on the left side. And there was a Hyundai Santro at the front of the XUV700. Now as the video progresses the Mahindra XUV700 comes extremely close to the Santro ahead of it.
Who was behind this abrupt stop?
Thankfully the automatic emergency braking feature of the XUV700’s ADAS avoided the collision due to sudden braking. Now viewers who have watched the video till this point would blame the Santro driver for the reckless braking. However, the truth is that he also braked this hard to avoid a collision.
The real culprit in this situation was a Hyundai Grand i10 Nios owner at the front of the Santro. It has been reported and also can be seen in the vifoe that this driver wanted to take an exit on the left. However, as he missed the exit by a few meters he decided to abruptly stop at the middle of the highway.
This careless behavior could have caused a massive pileup of cars. As can be seen in the video the highway was jam packed . And things could have ended ugly if this crash was not avoided. As per the reports, this accident has been reported from NICE expressway, Karnataka. Also the owner missed the Mysore road exit.
Mahindra XUV700 ADAS features
For those who may not be aware the Mahindra XUV700 is one of the very first SUVs to offer a full suite of ADAS features in India. The XUV700 gets a advanced Level 2 ADAS. The list of its features is quite extensive.
This SUV comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, traffic sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking. It also gets front collision warning, lane keep assist, smart pilot assist, lane departure warning and driver drowsiness system.

Additionally, it has to be noted the the XUV700 is that it uses the more expensive and reliable Radar and Camera based ADAS. This type of ADAS is more efficient and can perform optimally in difficult conditions like fog as well.
A few months ago a video of an owner driving his Mahindra XUV700 in dense fog was shared online. In this short clip the XUV700 was seen being driven on a highway with the help of the ADAS. The owner added that because of this feature they could drive at a higher speed than other cars.
