Skoda Kushaq And Slavia Now Get 6 Airbags As Standard

Skoda Auto India is taking a significant step forward in ensuring passenger safety in their vehicles. The brand took a significant step towards safety by introducing six airbags as standard across its Kushaq compact SUV and Slavia sedan range. This move will not only enhance the safety quotient of these vehicles but also boost their demand among Indian consumers, who are now more inclined towards buying safer cars.

Earlier, only the top-end Style trim of both the Slavia and Kushaq models featured six airbags, while lower variants featured only two airbags. Now, as six airbags are standard across all variants, the safety standards of these cars are elevated.

Both cars have witnessed a slight price increase, with the Kushaq ranging between Rs 11.99 lakh-19.79 lakh and the Slavia priced from Rs 11.63 lakh-18.83 lakh. Please note that all the prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

The prices have gone up by Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 35,000, depending on the trim. Special edition variants such as Monte Carlo, Style Edition and Elegance Edition already offered six airbags as standard.

Both the Kushaq and the Slavia have achieved a five-star rating in the Global NCAP crash test, demonstrating their top-notch safety standards for adult and child occupants. Both the Slavia and Kushaq were tested after GNCAP updated its safety protocols.

Safety has always been intrinsic to the Skoda DNA. We were the first brand to score a full five stars for adults and children under the Global NCAP tests. Our emphasis on safety embodies our Human Touch approach and underscores our focus on being a family brand. We always offered frontal airbags in our base variants and six in our higher variants, each as safe as the other. As part of our MY24 updates, we now offer six airbags across all variants of the Kushaq and Slavia. We are always listening to our customers and shall continue to provide relevant upgrades and significant product actions within our product portfolio and our variant line-up,” said Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India

In addition to introducing six airbags in all variants, Skoda has also introduced new features as a part of the company’s MY2024 updates for its India 2.0 product portfolio. Comfort and convenience features such as electric seats for the driver and co-driver, an illuminated footwell area, and a 25.4 cm infotainment screen with Skoda Play Apps have been added to the top-end variants. Some of these changes were already introduced by the company in Q4 2023.

Both the Kushaq and Slavia are based on the made-for-India MQB-A0-IN platform. Manufactured in India, these cars are also exported to other right-hand drive and GCC countries (Gulf Cooperation Council – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates).

This was the first made-in-India platform that has managed to achieve dual 5-star ratings under Global NCAP’s stringent test protocols. Some reports suggest that Skoda could introduce Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in both cars to further increase safety and keep up with the competition.
