Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition Launched In India

The Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular SUVs in its segment. It has been on the market for over a decade and has been a leader despite being an expensive SUV. Toyota has now launched a Leader Edition variant of the popular Fortuner. Customers interested in the new SUV can book it from Toyota’s official website or from any authorized dealership in India.

Commenting on the launch, Sabari Manohar, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Their evolving preferences and desires for enhanced features and driving experiences motivate our relentless pursuit of excellence. The Fortuner Leader Edition is crafted to elevate its bold style statement with more add-on features while imparting an unparalleled sense of power and distinction. The Fortuner Leader Edition is a testament to Toyota’s resolute commitment to providing best-in-class offerings, leading the way with power and style.”

Compared to the regular Fortuner, the Leader Edition gets some cosmetic upgrades. Toyota is offering the Fortuner Leader Edition in a dual-tone exterior paint job. Additionally, the SUV gets blacked-out alloy wheels. Toyota also offers a wireless charger, TPMS, front and rear bumper spoilers, and more. The Leader Edition of the Toyota Fortuner is available in Super White with a black roof, Platinum Pearl White with a black roof, and Silver Metallic with a black roof.

In short, the SUV looks a lot sportier than the regular version. This version of the Toyota Fortuner is only available with the diesel engine and in the 4×2 guise. Other than these newly added features, everything else remains the same with this new Leader Edition variant.

The Toyota Fortuner is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Leader Edition is powered by a 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine that generates 201 Bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque.

The SUV is available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option. Since its launch in 2009, the Toyota Fortuner has been extremely popular among SUV buyers and off-road enthusiasts.

Over the years, we have seen several neat and wild-looking modified Toyota Fortuner SUVs. Toyota has reported a growth of 48 percent in FY23-24. During this time, the Japanese car manufacturer sold around 2.65 lakh units, including models like the Innova Crysta and Fortuner.

The Toyota Fortuner is a global SUV and is offered in other markets as well. Toyota recently unveiled a mild hybrid version of the Fortuner SUV for the South African market. The Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology, which was first introduced in the Hilux pickup truck last year, is a 48V mild hybrid system that assists the engine and helps make it more efficient. Only the diesel version gets the mild hybrid system.

The international version of the Fortuner comes with features like a 360-degree camera and ADAS; however, we are still waiting for these features in India. Whether Toyota will launch the diesel mild hybrid Fortuner in India, we’ll have to wait and see. Toyota has not said anything about working on the next-generation Fortuner, but we have been seeing a lot of rendered images that show how the SUV might look.
