Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the next-generation Swift hatchback in the Indian market next month. Soon after the launch of the new Swift, we expect Maruti to launch the next-generation Dzire sedan. The sedan has been spotted testing on Indian roads several times, and we now have ACI reporting that the upcoming sedan will have different styling and more features than its hatchback sibling.
According to reports circulating online, Maruti Suzuki Dzire is expected to undergo some cosmetic changes to give it a distinct identity. The sedan will have a completely different exterior design compared to the current version. The design is expected to evolve from the current version.
It will be similar to the new Swift; however, Maruti will make minor tweaks to the bumper, alloy wheels, and the headlamps to achieve a different look. We have seen Maruti do this with the current version too. Both the Swift and the Dzire have slightly different-looking bumpers and front grilles, which help differentiate these products in front of the customer.
The other major change is going to be at the rear. The Dzire sedan will get a redesigned rear end, tailgate, and tail lamps. It needs to be seen if Maruti will opt for the clear lens unit, like we saw in the Swift. Other than these cosmetic changes, both these models will share a lot of parts, including the engine.
The next-generation Dzire will offer more features than the hatchback. The Dzire will be the first car in the segment to offer a single-pane electric sunroof. A test mule with a sunroof was spotted testing a few weeks ago. The new Dzire will get a dashboard design similar to what the upcoming Swift gets. The layered dashboard design is somewhat similar to what we have seen in the Baleno and S-Cross, which Maruti sells in the market. Maruti is also expected to offer a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system and a 360-degree camera with the new Dzire.
Coming to the engine options, the all-new Dzire will be offered with a single petrol engine option. This is the same engine that Maruti will offer in the hatchback. It is an all-new engine developed by Suzuki for better city performance and fuel efficiency. This is a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated engine from the Z-Series.
The sedan is expected to come with the same 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox options. Just like the current generation Dzire, Maruti will introduce the CNG version at a later stage. Other than this, Maruti is also expected to introduce a strong hybrid system with the new Dzire.
This is a series hybrid system, which is different from the tech offered with the Grand Vitara. In this system, the sole purpose of the petrol engine is to charge the batteries which would power the electric motor.
In this, the car completely turns into an EV, and the petrol engine works as a generator to power the batteries. Maruti will be the first to introduce this system in the Fronx, and the same is expected to be seen in the new-gen Swift and Dzire too.
