The country’s largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra Automotive, is relentlessly working on the development of the Mahindra Thar five-door. According to reports, the company could be launching it in the second half of this year. In the last few months, a number of its test mules have been spotted testing, and recently, another test mule has revealed a new detail about this SUV. The most recently spotted test mule of the Mahindra Thar five-door has revealed that it will be getting a brand-new digital instrument gauge cluster, which will provide the driver with a host of information regarding the vehicle.
Recently, a video shared on YouTube by Raftaar 7811 on their channel has shown this new feature addition. The video shows a test mule of the Mahindra Thar five-door stationary at a traffic signal. It shows the fully camouflaged exterior, and then there is a glimpse of the interior of the test mule. The main highlight, which can be noted from this interior spy shot, is the addition of a fully digital instrument gauge cluster. It can be noted that on the left side of the cluster, the digital speedometer was placed, and in the middle, there was the multi-information display. Most likely, it will be a 10.25-inch display.
Other features of the new Mahindra Thar five-door
Apart from the digital instrument cluster, it can also be noted that the Mahindra Thar five-door will come with the same multifunction steering wheel from the XUV700 and Scorpio-N. In addition, the company will be offering a bigger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the Thar five-door. It will also get the company’s proprietary ADRENOX connected car technology software. Additionally, just below the new infotainment screen, Mahindra has added a number of quick-use buttons.
Additionally, previous test mules have shown that the upcoming Thar five-door will come equipped with a single-lane electric sunroof as well. It has also been noted that the car will come with roof-mounted speakers as well, just like we have seen in the XUV700 and Scorpio-N. Lastly, the company could also be offering an in-built dashcam as well. This dashcam will be fitted behind the IRVM.
Mahindra Thar five-door: Exterior design updates
Apart from the interior, the exterior of the Thar five-door will also be given a few upgrades. The main highlight will be the addition of a new 6-slat design instead of the traditional 7-slat grille on the three-door Thar. The unique detail about this new grille will be that it will get a horizontal slat in the lower part, which divides the grille into two parts. The part above will be larger than the one below. Apart from this, the new five-door Thar has also been seen with new LED projector headlights, which also had LED DRLs integrated into them.
2024 Mahindra Thar five-door: Engine specifications
As of yet, reports have suggested that the company will not be offering any new powertrain options with the upcoming Thar five-door. Most likely, it will retain the outgoing three-door Thar’s engine options. Presently, the Mahindra Thar three-door model comes available with 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine options in the four-wheel-drive variants. Reports have stated that the 5-door Thar will retain both of these engine options in a higher state of tune to manage the added weight with new middle doors and other additions inside the cabin.
