Indian politicians and cars are not something that go hand in hand. Many politicians use SUVs because they have an imposing look on the road, and the cars make them appear authoritative. However, most politicians do not have great taste when it comes to cars. Like any other case, there are exceptions. M.T.B. Nagaraj of Hosakote, near Bangalore, who is currently the state minister for small-scale industries and municipal administration, has a variety of expensive and exotic cars in his garage. He is probably the richest politician in the country with a variety of expensive and exotic cars. A video has surfaced online where the politician is seen performing Ayudha Pooja on all his cars.
The video has been shared by Lion TV Kannada on their YouTube channel. In most Indian states, people follow Navratri, and Ayudha Puja, or Weapons Puja, is conducted on the ninth day of Navratri to pay respect to the tools and weapons that one utilizes daily. In this case, the weapons are the cars as the politician uses them daily. The video shows a variety of expensive cars lined up outside the residence of M.T.B. Nagaraj. We see a current-generation Land Rover Range Rover SUV parked next to a Rolls Royce Phantom VIII.
Just next to the Phantom VIII is a bright blue-colored Ferrari F8 Tributo and a Land Rover Defender 110 SUV. Behind these vehicles are other cars like the Toyota Fortuner, a couple of Toyota Innova MPVs, and a humble Maruti Omni. He also has a Porsche Cayenne in his garage. In the video, we can see the priest performing the puja and rituals, and Nagaraj’s family can be seen sitting right in front of the vehicles behind the priest. Once the puja ritual was complete, the staff appointed by Mr. Nagaraj took all these vehicles out for a spin and returned to the residence.
Rolls Royce Phantom VIII
The eighth-generation Rolls Royce Phantom owned by Mr. Nagaraj is finished in white. It is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine, which produces 563 bhp of maximum power and 900 Nm of torque.
Land Rover Range Rover
The British car manufacturer launched the new-generation Range Rover, and it quickly became a popular choice among rich businessmen, celebrities, and politicians. Nagaraj owns this SUV in Lantau Bronze shade. The exact spec of this SUV is not known as it is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The price for a brand new Range Rover starts at Rs 2.39 crore and goes up to Rs 4.17 crore (ex-showroom).
Ferrari F8 Tributo
This is the only supercar in M.T.B’s garage. The blue-colored Ferrari is powered by a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, pumping out 710 bhp of power and 770 Nm. The price for this supercar starts at around Rs 4.02 crore, ex-showroom.
Land Rover Defender
This was also another hit product from the manufacturer, which quickly gained popularity among enthusiasts, rich businessmen, and celebrities. The SUV is available in 3-door and 5-door versions. A variety of The Land Rover Defender is available with 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter petrol engines, as well as a 3.0-liter diesel engine. Last year, the manufacturer also introduced a 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine option for both the Defender 110 and 90 versions. The price for Defender starts at Rs 93.55 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.30 crore, ex-showroom.
Porsche was the first supercar manufacturer to launch an SUV, and it did become popular among buyers. The Cayenne seen here in the video does not look like the current version. It looks like an older version that came with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that generated 340 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque.
Toyota Fortuner & Innova Crysta
These are the quintessential vehicles in the garage of any Indian politician. Both these vehicles are popular in the Indian market for their reliability and low cost of maintenance. The Fortuner owned by Nagaraj looks like the pre-facelift 4×4 diesel variant which uses a 2.8-liter engine generating 177 bhp and 450 nm torque. The Innova Crysta uses a 2.4-liter diesel engine which makes 148 bhp of maximum power and 343 Nm of maximum torque.
This is probably the least expensive car in Nagaraj’s garage. We are not even sure whether the car is used by the politician or by his staff. The Maruti Omni is also an iconic van and has played a crucial role in Indian automotive history. Other than the vehicles seen here in the video, Mr. Nagaraj also owns a Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz GL350 CDI, and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in his garage.
