If Maruti Suzuki Were To Build A Toyota Fortuner-Based SUV: What It Could Look Like

As we all are aware, the Toyota Fortuner is the most recognized ladder-on-frame SUV in India. Its fan following has no bounds, and every young boy in India wants to own one. Now, a lot of people are also aware of the long-term partnership between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Both the companies have launched several badge-engineered models in the country. So, this partnership has made people wonder, what would a Maruti Suzuki Fortuner-based SUV look like? Well, recently, a few renderings of this exact idea have been shared on Instagram by Octane9tfive.

Maruti Suzuki Fortuner rendering 5

The first rendering looks like it has been based on the Toyota Fortuner but with hints of Maruti Suzuki’s popular MPV, Ertiga. This similarity can be noticed by eagle-eyed viewers with the headlights. Apart from this, the rest of the car is completely new, and it gets a unique high-gloss black grille and a massive Suzuki logo on the front. The side profile gets massive gold-colored alloy wheels and a similar silhouette as the Toyota Fortuner.

The next rendering of Maruti Suzuki’s Fortuner seems to be loosely based on the previous generation of the Vitara Brezza sub-compact SUV. There is a slight similarity in the headlight design. However, apart from this, it can be noted that this model has been given a massive honeycomb grille pattern and two large LED projector fog lights. The side profile looks like the one seen on the Fortuner Type 3, but it has been given some sporty-looking gold alloy wheels.

This third rendering reminds us of the Ford Explorer, a popular SUV sold by the American carmaker in the United States of America. It gets a simple grille with a Dzire-like grille, which has been altered with horizontal lines and a chrome surround.

Additionally, the LED headlights also look very sleek and are accompanied by dual projector lights, which have been vertically stacked on the front bumper. To give it the Fortuner touch, the same silhouette of a Type 3 Fortuner has been utilized. Additionally, it also gets light gold-colored multispoke alloy wheels.

Coming to the fourth render, in our opinion, it looks the best. This particular model looks like it has been based on the all-new Invicto, as it gets a similar grille. The headlights look extremely sleek, and the gold accents on the bottom of the front bumper add a nice premium touch. This car gets some meaty off-road tires with gold racing alloy wheels. It may not look as muscular or imposing as the Toyota Fortuner, but it looks very modern and classy.

This last rendered model boasts a completely unique design. It gets a massive grille with horizontal lines and a chrome surround, which integrate into the headlights. Talking about the headlights, they get a three-pod design, and they are accompanied by two huge LED projector fog lights. Like all the other renders, this too gets gold alloy wheels. However, these look very similar to the outgoing Fortuner’s alloy wheels.

Will a Maruti Suzuki Fortuner-based SUV arrive?

Although we do not want to crush anyone’s dream, it has to be said that most likely there will be no Maruti Suzuki Fortuner coming to India. This is because both companies have agreed that they won’t be sharing their immensely popular products which define their unique brands. Like there will be no Toyota Fortuner-based Maruti Suzuki SUV, there will be no Jimny-based off-roader from Toyota.

Toyota will most likely also never share the Land Cruiser with Maruti Suzuki. Apart from these, the companies over the years have launched several badge-engineered models, and both have seen great success with their partnership. Most likely, this partnership will be continued in the upcoming years, and there will be many more products coming from both these Indo-Japanese automakers.
