Hyderabad Woman In Jaguar Drives On The Wrong Side: Smashes Home Guard’s Phone When Questioned [Video]

People violating traffic rules in India is not an uncommon sight. One such incident from Hyderabad has now surfaced online. A woman driving a Jaguar luxury car was stopped by a police officer for wrong-side driving. The woman driver, when questioned by the home guard, became aggressive, assaulted the officer, and broke his phone. A video of this incident has now surfaced online, and action has also been taken against the woman.

The woman seen here in the video has been identified as Sri Latha. As per the report, she was driving a Jaguar luxury sedan. The officer on duty, G Vignesh, stopped her from taking a U-turn at the Agrasen Island last weekend. The officer stopped the driver as a U-turn was not allowed at this point. The officer, after stopping the driver, even gave her an alternate route. The officer told the woman that taking a U-turn here would only create a traffic jam.

Speaking to the media, Traffic SI Rakesh Reddy said, “For half an hour, she kept her car parked in the middle of the road causing inconvenience to others. She also picked up an argument with the home guard and made objectionable statements.”

From the video that has now surfaced online, we can hear the woman talking to the people gathered around her. She is clearly abusing the home guard in the video. According to the reports that have surfaced online, Vignesh started recording a video of the woman for his defense. The woman got annoyed after seeing this and allegedly snatched his phone and smashed it on the floor. After this, she grabbed the reflective vest worn by the home guard and damaged or tore it.

It looks like the video that we have added in this story was recorded by the home guard before he got assaulted. After creating the issue and assaulting the officer, the woman left the spot in her car. Even in the video, it is quite clear that she was not happy with the fact that she was stopped by the officer. It looks like she was not ready to turn her car around and wanted to proceed the way she wanted.

The home guard did raise this issue and filed a complaint against the woman. Based on the complaint, Banjara Hills police have registered a criminal case against Sri Latha. She has been charged under sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the IPC, along with Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (PDPP) and Sections 184 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Banjara Hills Inspector K.M Raghavendra said that Sri Latha is yet to be summoned for questioning. Such behaviour towards cops should not be tolerated and strict action must be taken against them. This is not the first time we have come across an incident where people have assaulted cops on duty. There have also been instances where people drive rashly through police checkpoints and even carry the officer on the bonnet. Recently, a Hyundai i20 driver evaded cops by driving in reverse for almost 2 km in Ghaziabad.
