Exclusive: Upcoming Tata Harrier EV spotted testing for the first time [Video]

Tata is currently the leading manufacturer of electric vehicles in India. They currently have three models in their lineup and have plans to expand it. Tata’s electric vehicle wing is working extensively to launch new products in the market, and some of them are likely to be launched in the next few months. This year at the Auto Expo, Tata showcased the Harrier EV concept to the public. The manufacturer has already started work on this, as a test mule of the Tata Harrier EV was recently spotted testing in Pune.

The video was recorded during one of our recent visits to Pune for a media drive, where we spotted the upcoming Tata Harrier EV on the road. The SUV was completely camouflaged. The test mule looked just like the regular Harrier in terms of size and looks. If you look carefully at the front, you would notice that the front grille has been redesigned. The front grille on the Harrier EV is going to look a lot like the Harrier facelift, which will be launched in the market early next year. Just like the Nexon and Nexon EV, there will be minor differences in terms of looks.

The front grille would be completely closed to reduce drag. It looks like Tata might be offering some sort of garnish on the upper and lower part of the grille. This is not the production version, so the final design might be different. The front bumper looks muscular with an edgy design, and the headlamp design is also going to be different. We can see the ADAS camera on the front windshield and also LED DRLs on the front are completely covered. This could mean that Tata might be offering a Nexon EV-like LED strip that runs across the width of the car.

The alloy wheel design also looks different from the current ICE version. It looks like Tata will be offering the ADAS features to the electric version of the Harrier. Tata earlier this year introduced the Harrier Red Dark Edition with ADAS features. The car comes with features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), forward collision alert, lane departure warning, lane change assist, and traffic sign recognition. It looks like the Harrier EV will also be offered with all these features. We can see the blind spot detection feature working in the test mule too. The ORVM has an orange light blinking when it spots a vehicle in the blind spot.

The SUV looks the same from the rear; however, Tata will be making new revisions here too. The tail lamps will see some changes, one of them being dynamic turn indicators. We won’t be surprised if it comes with a connecting LED bar at the rear. We could not capture the interior of the Harrier EV clearly; however, it is evident that the Harrier facelift and EV might be getting a new infotainment system and instrument cluster. Other features like a 360-degree camera, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats are also likely to be offered. The powertrain, battery capacity, and range details of the upcoming Harrier EV are yet to be revealed.
