Maruti Suzuki’s much-awaited product, the Swift, is all set to be launched in the Indian market. Maruti Suzuki has now officially opened bookings for the new Swift. Interested buyers can pre-book the fourth-generation Swift from dealerships across the country by paying Rs 11,000. The Maruti Swift has been one of the most popular hatchbacks in its segment. Since its launch, Maruti has sold over 29 lakh units of this hatchback.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The Swift has been an iconic brand for Maruti Suzuki, one that has evolved with changing times to redefine customer expectations. Its 29 lakh strong customer base and numerous awards & accolades are a testament to how the iconic Swift has gone from strength to strength. As always, the next-generation Swift is all set to create new benchmarks in the premium hatchback segment and further the concept of the ‘Joy of Mobility’ in its own right.”
Suzuki already sells the all-new Swift in international markets. As per the reports surfacing online, the Indian version of the hatchback is going to get the same design as the older version. The car gets an evolutionary design which makes it look sleeker, sportier, and more premium than before.
Maruti Suzuki had already hinted at the new engine that will be offered with the new Swift. It is going to be a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine. The engine is tuned for efficiency and power in city driving conditions. We currently don’t have any information related to the power figures; however, as per a report by V3 cars, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift will generate 81.6 Ps and 112 Nm of peak torque.
When compared to the outgoing model, the next-generation Swift generates less power and slightly less torque. The engine is tuned in such a manner that it generates the highest fuel efficiency in the segment. As per the internal document which got leaked online, the upcoming Maruti Swift will have a certified fuel efficiency of 25.72 kmpl.
Just like most of the Maruti models in India, the upcoming Swift’s engine will get the mild-hybrid technology which helps in increasing the overall economy of the car. The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. However, whether the manufacturer will offer a CVT or AMT gearbox is not known. The international version gets CVT, and the older versions of Swift sold in India were all offered with AMTs.
The chances of Maruti offering AMT with Swift are pretty high as this would help them keep the cost of the vehicle in check. Maruti Suzuki will be offering a redesigned cabin with the new Swift.
The layered dashboard design is similar to what we’ve seen in the current generation Baleno and Fronx. Maruti will be offering their new floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, multifunction steering wheel, push button start-stop, and many more features.
Maruti will introduce the series hybrid tech with Swift at a later stage, and similarly, a CNG option would also be offered with Swift after the launch. After the launch of Swift, Maruti will also launch the updated Dzire or all-new Maruti Dzire in the market.
