The Japanese automotive giant Toyota is gearing up to launch a number of new cars in India. These offerings will include updated iterations of the existing models along with a few new models. So if you are a Toyota fan and are waiting to know which cars are coming from the brand, then you have stumbled upon the right place. Following are the details of the upcoming models from Toyota.
Fortuner PHEV Mild Hybrid
The first car on the launch list from Toyota for India is the Toyota Fortuner PHEV. This new mild hybrid version of the Fortuner was recently launched in South Africa. Most likely, this model will be soon launched in India as well.
This iteration of the Toyota Fortuner comes equipped with the same 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. However, it will now get an added 48V mild hybrid system. This engine produces 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Because of the new mild hybrid system, the fuel efficiency of the Fortuner will change from 12.66 kmpl to 13.15 kmpl.
Hilux PHEV Mild Hybrid
In addition to the Fortuner PHEV, the company is planning to launch the Hilux mild hybrid. The hybrid iteration of the Hilux will also be getting the same drivetrain. The 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine will come with the same 48V mild hybrid technology.
It will produce 201 bhp of maximum power and 500 Nm of torque. The charged-up 48V lithium-ion battery produces 16 hp power and 65 Nm torque. This power will be sent to the engine via the motor generator. This will help in improving the acceleration of this pickup truck.
Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-Seater

Toyota is also gearing up to the launch of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder seven-seater in India. This model will be based on the seven-seater version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Once launched, this new SUV will compete with the Mahindra XUV700.
It will also take on the Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar as well. The company most likely will not be changing anything under the bonnet of this SUV. It will get the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated strong hybrid powertrain and 1.5-litre mild hybrid powertrain. This model will most likely be launched in India in 2025.
Urban Electric SUV (Maruti eVX based EV)
The first fully electric SUV from Toyota for the Indian market will be based on the Maruti Suzuki eVX. The company is aiming to launch this SUV by October of 2025. It will utilize the same 27PL skateboard platform as the eVX.
This will be dedicated EV architecture that will be produced locally at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility. The Toyota Urban SUV will be offered with two battery pack options. The first will be a larger 60kWh unit is expected to provide a range of around 550 kilometers.
On the other hand, there will also be an entry-level variant with a smaller 48kWh battery pack. This variant will offer a range of roughly 400 kilometers. In terms of pricing, it could be priced at a slight premium over the Maruti Suzuki eVX. As per the reports, the eVX could start at Rs 22 lakh.
