The French automaker Renault and its strategic alliance partner Nissan are about to launch two new SUVs in India. These SUVs will be the all-new Duster and Nissan’s version of the Duster (Terrano). At the moment, the companies have not made it official. However, reports have stated that these two SUVs could be only offered with petrol engine options. Renault and Nissan are both planning to part ways with diesel engines in India.
According to Autocar India, Renault and Nissan SUVs will be making their way to India in 2025 towards the end. Following their launches, there will be 7-seater versions of these SUVs as well. These models will be launched in 2026. As mentioned above, all of these SUVs including 5 and 7-seater models will come with petrol engines only.
Two turbo petrol engine options
As per the reports, the companies will offer a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine as the base engine. This HR10 motor currently powers the Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. The exact power figures for these SUVs have not been revealed. However, they could be offered with a slightly more powerful tune to suit the bigger SUVs.
Apart from the above-mentioned engine, the other engine option could be a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine. This motor is called the HR13 and it produces a maximum power of 156 bhp. As for the transmission options, both upcoming SUVs could come offered with a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options.
Entry-level 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine
In addition to the turbo petrol engines, there could also be a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as well. This motor will most likely power the lower-spec variants of these SUVs. Lastly, it has been reported that the company is not planning to introduce any new diesel engine. It also not planning to reintroduce to K9K diesel which was offered with the old Duster.
2025 Renault Duster: Details
The entire Indian automotive market is excited for the launch of the new Duster. This was the model that started the now-popular mid-size SUV segment. This time around the new Duster will be based on the CMF-B platform.
This SUV will be drawing its design inspiration from the Bigster concept. It will sport distinctive Y-shaped LED daytime running lights and taillights. It will also get chunky fenders and rugged cladding providing a very modern and durable appearance.
On the inside, the new Duster will feature an all-new dashboard with a 10.1-inch touchscreen oriented towards the driver. The SUV will also come equipped with a 3-spoke steering wheel and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster as well.
Additionally, the feature list of Renault Duster could include wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, automatic climate control, and an Arkamys 3D sound system with six speakers.
Notably, it could also be offered with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology. The ADAS suite could include features such as automatic emergency braking, vehicle, pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcycle detection. Traffic sign recognition with speeding alert, rear parking assistant, lane change warning, and assist might also be offered.
