Mahindra Automotive is gearing up to launch the all-new Thar five-door in India. The launch is expected to take place on the 15th of August. As the time of launch approaches, test mule sightings of this SUV have become more frequent. Recently, a video of one such test mule was shared online. The entire Mahindra Thar five-door was seen from inside-out in this video.

This detailed spy video of the Mahindra Thar five-door comes courtesy of Auto Motor from YouTube. It starts with a glimpse of the interior and exterior of the Thar five-door. Moving on, the creator of the video then starts a detailed walkaround of this SUV.
Exterior design
Starting at the front, the 2024 Mahindra Thar five-door will get an updated new front fascia. It will continue to boast the same overall design; however, there will be some changes. One of the main highlights will be the addition of a new grille with a vertical line. This line divides the grille into two portions, with the upper one being a little bigger.
Next up, the headlights have been updated and will now get an LED projector setup. Additionally, there will be LED fog lights along with DRLs on fenders. On the side profile, the main highlight will be the newly added doors. Apart from this, the new Thar five-door will feature a set of bigger 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The creator of the video also shows the roof of the car, which will get a single-pane electric sunroof. Moving on to the rear, it will look very similar to the Thar three-door. However, there will be an updated LED taillight set. It will also get a high mount stop lamp, rear window wiper and washer, along with a defogger.
Interior design
Following the detailed walkaround of the exterior, the presenter then shows the interior. We can note that it will come equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel like the Scorpio-N and XUV700. It will also get a bigger touchscreen infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard.
Next up, the presenter highlights another new feature of the car. He adds that unlike the three-door Thar, this model will get a start/stop button in place of the traditional key slot. Moving on, the car will also come with Thar-embossed seats with fabric and leather upholstery.
We can also observe the electric sunroof, speakers on the roof like the Mahindra Scorpio-N and XUV700. Apart from these features, the SUV will also come with rear AC vents and a number of other creature comforts.
Drivetrain and pricing
Coming to the powertrain options, it is believed that the company will continue with the same options as the three-door. This means that the SUV will get the same 2.0-litre petrol engine as well as the 2.2-litre diesel engine. Transmission options will also remain the same as the three-door model.
As for the pricing, the new Thar five-door will reportedly be launched at around Rs 18 lakh. From there, it will go up to Rs 25 lakh. As stated above, the launch could take place around the 15th of August this year.
