2024 Mahindra Scorpio N Z4 Diesel in a Walkaround Video

Mahindra has recently made various changes to the variants of its popular SUV, the Scorpio-N. In addition to cost-cutting in existing variants, Mahindra also introduced a new variant, Z8 Select, positioned above the Z6 and below the Z8. Today, we are going to cover the Scorpio N’s updated 2024 version of the Z4 variant in a walkaround video.

A YouTube video uploaded by ‘MRD Cars’, shows the variant in detail. The Z4 is the second-base model in the Scorpio N lineup. The car shown in the video is a diesel manual finished in white. The Z4 is one of the most value-for-money variants of the SUV. Prices start from Rs. 16 lakh.

Exterior

Starting with the front fascia, the SUV comes with halogen-reflector-based headlamps and halogen turn indicators. Headlights are adorned by the sleek DRLs, but fog lamps are missing. Instead of having premium-looking chrome elements, the grille comes basic with silver ones. Front parking sensors and cameras are missing, which are seen on the higher variants. Being a SUV, the Scorpio N offers an excellent ground clearance of 187 mm.

A major feature missing from the side profile is alloy wheels. The Z4 variants offer 17-inch steel rims painted black. The door does not have request sensors, but the ORVMs come with integrated turn indicators, which is a nice touch.

The SUV’s tail lamps are LED. However, the turn indicators and brake light are still halogen. The rear wiper, defogger, two parking sensors, and spoiler are noteworthy additions. Mahindra Scorpio N comes with its own unique side-opening boot door, which can be inconvenient in tight places.

Interior

When stepping inside, the first noticeable thing is the lack of soft-touch materials. The seat covers are made of fabric instead of the much more expensive leatherette seats. Features such as steering-mounted controls, semi-digital MID, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, four speakers, and an 8-inch infotainment system with wired Android Auto and Apple Car Play make the car worth it at this price point. Overall, the interior looks good.

Mahindra has not compromised in terms of safety. The Scorpio N has scored a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Other safety features include ABS, EBD, hill start assist, hill descent control, all four-disc brakes, and TPMS. The Z4 offers only two airbags, while the higher variants provide a total of 6 airbags.

Priced between Rs 13.60 lakh and Rs 24.54 lakh (ex-showroom), the Scorpio N rivals compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and 7-seater SUVs such as the XUV 700 and Tata Safari.

The Scorpio N offers two engines: a 2.0L turbo-petrol with 203 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque and a 2.2L diesel in two tunes: 132 horsepower with 300 Nm of torque in lower variants or 175 horsepower producing 400 Nm of torque available in higher variants.

Both engines can be paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. However, the automatic transmission is not available in the tuned-down diesel engine. This allows the buyer to choose the variant that fits their needs.
